Handprinted Grey Leaf Lampshades

Evening, crafty folk!

This post is just me chatting away about some new lovely lampshades that I’ve been making (and am rather excited about). If you’ve read my previous posts or seen my shop recently, you’ll see that having dabbled with Lino print designing and cutting for a while, I thought the best idea is to combine both worlds!

My first lampshade was using my fern print on a neutral, beige background.  Botanical lampshades and neutral lampshades are so popular at the moment and don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, so I wanted to be able to offer my customers something a bit different and more personal. I design the leaf stamp, then cut the lino and print the fabric before making the lampshade so every part of the process is personal.

My second handprinted lampshade design uses the same leaf print but in a different pattern and on a dark grey linen. The leaves look as though they are floating in the breeze in these lovely lampshades. I’ve also experimented with both large and small leaves - the smaller ones are lovely and dainty for a smaller lampshade. I’ve printed the design onto a linen material, which gives it a high quality finish and printed using Speedball fabric paint.

My style is by no means perfect or exact, so I don’t measure the distance between each print - I just do it by eye.  I like that there are a few distressed marks in between the prints too; I think it adds movement to the design. I love that no two lampshades are the same - every one is totally unique.

You can find the large leaf print lampshade on my website here, as well as the small leaf lampshade here. Both designs are available in both a ceiling lampshade and a table lampshade, and you can choose the diameter option that you like best!
