Craft review - Lauren Aston Designs Christmas Stockings
Alright, my crafting lovelies!?
Another lockdown is upon us, and time for a bit of healthy reflection. I know that for many this year has been really difficult, uncertain, and unhappy. It’s been up and down for me, but I am focusing on the positives! Although lockdowns can be tough, and I personally don’t believe necessary, the upside is that they cause you to slow down. To appreciate the smaller things. And to get excited about crafting! Here’s the next in my Christmas decorations blog series.
Part of the lockdown joy for me has been trying more knitting. I learned to knit when I was little, taught by my Grandma. I was sooooo impatient (still am) and remain an imperfect knitter. My favourite knitter to follow on Instagram is Lauren Aston designs. Her LAD knitting patterns have been so much fun to try as I battle with understanding knitting abbreviations and mastering turning within the row!
My first order was of Lauren’s Mini Stockings - these are so wonderful. I’ve made these as a garland but also as individual stockings for personalised Christmas tree decorations - both work really well! The instructions are really easy to follow and come as a downloadable PDF. Plus, on the Lauren Aston Designs website there are lots of how to blog posts to follow (if you’re a novice like me).
You could add a personalised letter so that it double up as a Christmas gift tag, or also use the garland idea but sew on numbers and make an Advent Calendar. The possibilities are endless! Here are a couple of examples of the individual stocking decorations which you can make.
I’ll share some of my other LAD attempts soon but take a look at her wonderful products here! She also sells yarn, tools and DIY kits so you can get it all in one go. There are also much more ambitious projects(!) if you are a more advanced knitter than me! One thing is for sure, I’ve caught the knitting bug…
