Bespoke Lampshade case study: pink lampshades
One of my favourite parts of my A Crafty Den business is making bespoke lampshade orders for my customers! Now this includes Copper interior lampshades, as well! Custom made lampshade orders is where a customer sends me the fabric they would like to be turned into a lampshade, and I make the lampshade to order for them. As each one is made to order, you can choose the diameter, height and whether it is a ceiling lampshade or table lampshade.
In this blog post, I wanted to share two customers’ bespoke lampshades requests. The first lovely customer contacted me through my Etsy shop about the possibility of making a custom made lampshade. She was re-decorating her daughter’s bedroom, which was a lovely pink, and wanted the finishing touch to be a complementary pink lampshade.
We discussed the colour options and she wanted either a dusky pink or lavender. I contacted my sister (who owns Bath Bunting Co and has a LOT of fabric to choose from) and we sent through these options. My customer really loved the the pink stripy fabric, with the stripes going vertically.
We went through the lampshade size options - you can choose from 15, 20, 25, or 30cm lampshade diameters, and the lampshade heights can be made to order - and she chose the 30cm lampshade diameter option.
She then asked if we could use a pom pom trim to finish off the design, and we settled on a white pom pom trim. The finished result was fantastic…
The second wonderful customer contacted me as she wanted specific lampshade measurements for 2 lampshades for her table lamps. The lampshades were currently 19cm diameter, so she chose a 20cm diameter, with a 20cm height. The fabric had a very small repeat and was from the Vanessa Arbuthnott Pretty Maids collection. Once the dimensions had been agreed and I received the fabric, the two lampshades looked great - and even better when finally on their lamp stands!
I hope these two bespoke lampshade case studies have inspired you, and given you a flavour of how custom made lampshades work!
